Background: FPGA technology has been on my to-do list for a long time, a long time ago I obtained a Lattice promotional CD and had some ideas that I never followed through on. Later I resolved to obtain a good textbook and teach myself a HDL.

Development boards

• Elbert V2
• Mach XO

Development tools (Windows)

• Xilinx ISE in WSL or alternatively ISE in a Virtualbox VM
• Lattice Diamond

Note that the Xilinx ISE is actually a Linux application. A native Windows version is available for earlier versions but not Windows 10.
